Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating an account on app.veilproxy.ai or downloading and running the VeilProxy software, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using VeilProxy on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. The Service

VeilProxy is an LLM sanitization proxy that detects and replaces personally identifiable information (PII) in messages before forwarding them to large language model providers. VeilProxy is available as:

• Cloud Service — A managed instance at app.veilproxy.ai operated by Threatlabs LLC
• Self-Hosted Software — Open-source code licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1)

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. One person or organization may not maintain multiple free-tier accounts.

4. Self-Hosted License

The self-hosted VeilProxy software is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1. Key terms:

• You may use VeilProxy for any purpose except offering it as a commercial hosted service (SaaS) that competes with VeilProxy Cloud
• Self-hosting for internal business use is always permitted
• On February 20, 2030, the license converts to Apache License 2.0
• For alternative licensing (e.g., OEM embedding), contact licensing@veilproxy.ai

5. Cloud Service Tiers

The cloud service is available in multiple tiers with different limits on users, rules, webhooks, and retention periods. Current pricing is displayed at veilproxy.ai/#pricing. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers.

6. Payment

Paid tiers are billed monthly via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact support@veilproxy.ai.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use VeilProxy to process, store, or transmit content that is illegal in your jurisdiction
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or security controls
• Reverse-engineer the cloud service infrastructure (the open-source code is freely available)
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
• Resell cloud service access without a reseller agreement

8. Data Processing

VeilProxy processes your messages to detect PII. Sanitized messages (with PII replaced) are forwarded to your selected LLM provider. You are responsible for:

• Configuring appropriate detection rules and policies for your use case
• Understanding that no sanitization system is 100% accurate — some PII may not be detected
• Complying with applicable data protection laws (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.) for your use of the Service
• Reviewing the privacy policies of your selected LLM providers

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

VeilProxy is provided "as is" and "as available". While we strive for high detection accuracy, we do not guarantee that all PII will be detected and sanitized. You acknowledge that:

• Detection depends on your configured rules, policies, and the capabilities of regex and NER models
• New types of sensitive data may not be covered by default rules
• You should review and test your sanitization configuration before processing real sensitive data

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Threatlabs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, business interruption, or data exposure resulting from incomplete sanitization. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@veilproxy.ai. Upon termination, your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy retention schedule.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered cloud users at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
